Shattered Illusions

Karen Michelle Nutt writes paranormal romance with a heavy gothic streak, and Shattered Illusions sits comfortably in that lane. The setup involves a vampire under a curse and a woman who turns out to be the only person who can lift it. There are flashbacks to past lives, family secrets, and the kind of love-across-centuries arc that genre fans tend to enjoy.

Nutt has a backlist of similar books, so the world feels worked out rather than thin. Side characters get enough room to feel real even when they’re only on the page briefly.
