About this book

One of the later Scarlet Pimpernel novels, published in 1927, this installment pits Sir Percy Blakeney against his oldest adversary on the most personal ground yet. The revolutionary agent Chauvelin has a secret: a daughter, Fleurette, raised far from Paris and ignorant of who her father really is. When the Terror reaches toward her and the people she loves, the Scarlet Pimpernel steps in, and Percy finds a way to strike back at the man who has hunted him for years. Orczy keeps the disguises, narrow escapes, and last-minute reversals that made the series a favorite, this time with an edge of settled scores.
