About this book
The author's remarks say the story of Si'Wren was culled out of a veritable treasure trove of hundreds of little clay tablets found sealed and submerged for over 4,000 years in stone jars. The remarks add that the jars were brought up from the floor of the Persian Gulf, where they had lain half-buried under successive layers of sediment for over four millennia. In the story, Si'Wren counted herself a cherished and defended slave, safe within the walls of her Master's House.
The text says Si'Wren prayed oft in her bed at night that she might one day be given in marriage to some strong and decent man. A character named Old Maskron demands that a runner talk, shaking him and infuriated at the runner's balking manner. The text has the words "Scribe, thy services are needed. Hand me a tablet." and says Si'Wren obediently turned to her kit and handed over one of the requested objects to Borla.
