Sport and Work on the Nepaul Frontier is the 1878 memoir of James Inglis (1845-1908), a Scot who managed indigo plantations in northern Bihar along the Nepal border before a later career in Australian politics and commerce. Writing as Maori, he describes planting life, tiger and pig-sticking expeditions, floods, famines, and the village world of the Terai with a working resident’s knowledge. The book is a standard source for the indigo era of British India. Free PDF download available on BDeBooks.
