One address says that in 1852 an expedition was sent to Japan, under the command of Commodore Perry, for the purpose of opening commercial intercourse with that Empire. Another address concludes that Koszta was seized without legal authority at Smyrna and was wrongfully detained on board of the Austrian brig of war.

One address says the British Government has replied, affirming that the operation of the treaty is prospective only, to a call to withdraw from the possession or colonization of portions of the Central American States of Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica. An address says there is reason to believe that an arrangement between Denmark and the maritime powers of Europe will be soon concluded, and that with Spain no new difficulties have arisen.
