About this book

State of the Union Addresses, credited to Grover Cleveland, gathers addresses dated between December 8, 1885 and December 7, 1896. One address says that the assembling is clouded by a sense of public bereavement, caused by the recent and sudden death of Thomas A. Hendricks, Vice-President of the United States. Another address says that a question arose with Hayti over the exceptional treatment of an American citizen, Mr. Van Bokkelen, a resident of Port-au-Prince.

One address reports that an international conference to consider the means of arresting the spread of cholera and other epidemic diseases was held at Rome in May last. An address says that, after the recent financial perturbation, time is necessary for the reestablishment of business confidence.
