The book is titled The Art of Fencing, or, the Use of the Small Sword, and is translated from the French. The translator is named as Andrew Mahon, Professor of the Small Sword in Dublin. The chapter list includes chusing and mounting a Blade, Guard, pushing Quart and the Parade of Quart.
The text says there are five Figures of the Wrist, Prime, Seconde, Tierce, Quart and Quinte, and that the first is of very little Use, and the last of none at all. The text says there is no Guard but has its Thrust, and no Thrust without its Parade, no Parade without its Feint. The text asks whether it is reasonable to suppose that a Man of natural Courage should lose it, because he is assured that he is more expert than his Enemy.
