About this book

Gwenna Williams leaves a quiet Welsh village for London with more nerve than money, and lands on the edge of the early aviation world just as flying is turning from stunt into spectacle. There she loses her heart to a dashing young airman, and the story follows her hopes, her mistakes, and the question of whether he sees her as clearly as she sees him. Berta Ruck wrote light, warm-hearted romances aimed at a wide readership, and this one captures the giddy modern glamour of aircraft and independent young women in the years around the First World War. It is an easy, charming read.
