Herodotus

Herodotus (c. 484-c. 425 BC) was a Greek historian and geographer from Halicarnassus, a city under Persian control in his day, and later a citizen of Thurii in modern Calabria, Italy. He wrote the "Histories", an account of the Greco-Persian Wars that also treats other subjects, among them the rise of the Achaemenid dynasty under Cyrus.
