‘The Color Purple’ is a novel written by American writer Alice Walker and published in 1982 and it is historical novel, and the novel has got many awards such as Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1983 and the National Book Award for Fiction. Both narrators write letters to each other; the letters are also written in temporal order. First of all the main character of the movie is a black girl named Celie, who was grown up in the countryside in Georgia. The book is a deliberate critique on the question of race and the value of individual, strength, fearlessness and resilience of women. ‘Movies and musicals based on the novel to ‘The Color Purple’ exist.
