The Diary of Delia is a 1907 novel by Onoto Watanna, pen name of Winnifred Eaton (1875-1954), the Canadian-born writer of Chinese and English parentage who adopted a Japanese-sounding identity and became a best-selling author of Japanese-themed romances. This comic novel, told in an Irish cook’s voice, steps outside her usual settings. Eaton, sister of the writer Edith Maude Eaton, was a pioneering Asian North American author whose career raises rich questions of identity and authorship. Free PDF download available on BDeBooks.
