About this book

The Eye of Zeitoon is a book by Talbot Mundy. The contents list chapter titles such as "Sahib, there is always work for real soldiers!" and "We are the robbers, effendi!", among others. The narrator asks, "Why do they call you the Eye of Zeitoon?" The Zeitoonli arrives on the stroke of the half-hour, and the narrator says they could not shut the door in his face because of the fumes of food and kerosene.

The Zeitoonli strides back and forth on the balcony, treading ruthlessly on prayer-mats. A familiar voice demands whether they have taken root, as Will's returning footsteps are heard. The narrator recalls recovering consciousness that evening in the castle, copiously bandaged and painfully stiff.

About the author

Talbot Mundy

Talbot Mundy (1879-1940) was born William Lancaster Gribbon in London and knocked around India and Africa as an ivory poacher and confidence man before settling in America to write. His adventure fiction blends frontier action with the theosophy he took up in later life.
