The Fatal Dowry is a Jacobean tragedy written by Nathan Field (1587-1620) with Philip Massinger, first printed in 1632. Field was one of the boy actors of the Children of the Chapel who grew into a leading player in Shakespeare’s own company, the King’s Men, and turned playwright. The tragedy of honour, debt, and revenge was later adapted by Nicholas Rowe as The Fair Penitent. It is a strong example of late Jacobean drama. Free PDF download available on BDeBooks.
