About this book

The Fruits of Victory is a book on The Great Illusion controversy. The text quotes a description of Mr. Angell’s pamphlet as unimposing in form and daring in expression. A quoted remark says that "Norman Angellism" suddenly became one of the principal topics of discussion amongst politicians and journalists all over Europe.

The text says the specific issues about which nations fight are so little the real cause of the fight that they are generally completely forgotten when it comes to making the peace. The text says that British passion for Serbian nationality did not bring Britain to the side of Russia in 1914; the fear of German power did. A quoted passage says both parties to the discussion agree that civilisation is based upon moral and intellectual elements in constant danger of being overwhelmed by more deeply-rooted anti-social elements. The present writer warns that nothing in one chapter implies that we should disregard France’s very legitimate fears of a revived militarist Germany.
