About this book
A husband and wife rent a former guesthouse on an old estate near Shinjuku. Their narrow surroundings, which they nickname Lightning Alley, become the subject of close observation, from a towering tree to images projected through a hole in a fence. The novella opens with an unusual movement and a faint cry interrupting this carefully described domestic landscape.
