About this book
The Irish Constitution, explained by Darrell Figgis, has a contents list of Introduction, Explanation, Draft Constitution and Articles of Agreement for a Treaty Between Great Britain and Ireland. A picture caption names the Constitution Committee in session, with Darrell Figgis as Acting Chairman. The book is inscribed to a friend, Arthur Griffith.
The text says it was Molyneux who, in his Case of Ireland Stated at the end of the 17th century, first among modern Irish writers based an argument upon ancient dignities. The text says the rights conferred in the Constitution are the People's rights, the Constitution is the People's Constitution, and the Judiciary is the People's Judiciary. A section headed The Question of Appeals says that, in the section dealing with the Judiciary, one provision lends itself at once to criticism.
