About this book
The title page reads The Life and Times of Ulric Zwingli, translated from the German of J. J. Hottinger. The Author's Preface says: Biographers should not busy themselves so much with deeds, as their moving causes. One passage says that a man traveled of his own accord to Basel to become personally acquainted with the celebrated Erasmus and gained his undivided esteem.
Another passage states that it shall be the bounden duty of every convent to hand in to the authorities a faithful account of its revenue, outlay, possessions and all its business. A different passage quotes the words: The years of our life are three score and ten, and by reason of strength they may be four score.
