Jerry suggests that they get the porter to get them some sandwiches, and then watch the train get back on the track.
A man gives his name as Maurice De Vere and says he was in partnership with Blowitz in several ventures, including one in which a brig named the Rockhaven is concerned. Jerry eagerly asks the man whether he is interested in that, and says that it is the derelict Blowitz wanted them to go in search of in the motor boat. Snodgrass, looking down at the liberated toads and lizards, says that he brought them with him to compare with the horned toads and web-footed lizards he hopes to secure.
