The Mystery of Angelina Frood is a detective novel by R. Austin Freeman, published in 1924, in which the author openly reworks the puzzle Dickens left unfinished in The Mystery of Edwin Drood. A young woman disappears near the cathedral town of Rochester, and the evidence soon suggests she has been murdered, yet nothing about the case is quite what it seems. The narrator, a young doctor, is drawn into the investigation and into an attachment to the missing Angelina, while the calm figure of the medical detective works patiently toward the truth. About the Author
R. Austin Freeman (1862-1943) was an English writer who created the forensic detective Dr. Thorndyke and pioneered the scientific and ‘inverted’ detective story. His mysteries prize logic and real science.
