The Principles of English Versification is a 1922 scholarly study by Paull Franklin Baum (1886-1964), the Duke University professor and authority on prosody and on Chaucer, Tennyson, and Rossetti. Published by Harvard University Press, it sets out the principles of metre, rhythm, and rhyme in English poetry for students of literature. The book was a standard academic text on prosody.
