The Shrinemaiden

The first novel in the “Maidens” series is “The Shrinemaiden,” written by Annie Eppa. The protagonist of the tale is Adelai, who has only ever known the Temple of Inne-Anneah, the Goddess of Lust and Love, as her home. Adelai was brought up to be a refined, high-society courtesan, but her life takes a turn when she gets entangled in a web of conspiracy theories and bedroom politics.
