About this book

The title page of The Sick-a-Bed Lady lists accompanying pieces including Hickory Dock, The Very Tired Girl, The Happy-Day and Something That Happened in October. The Young Doctor brings wild strawberries for their smell rather than mainly for eating, though the Sick-A-Bed Lady gobbles them down when he is not looking.

A spray of yellow jasmine prompts the woman to kiss it and exclaim about home, and the pleased Young Doctor writes in a little book. The woman connects fresh green bank-notes with shops and reacts with disgust to gasoline, which she connects with gloves and playfully slaps from the doctor's hand.
