About this book
The Story of Evolution is by Joseph McCabe. The preface describes an ingenious student of science who entertained his generation with a theory of how one might behold again all the stirring chapters that make up the story of the earth. The text says that before telling the fortunes of our little earth, one has to see how matter is gathered into stupendous globes of fire. The text says the birth and death of worlds is perhaps the most impressive of all the studies that modern science offers us.
The text says the Theropods varied considerably in size and agility, and describes the Compsognathus as a small, active, rabbit-like creature standing about two feet high on its hind limbs. The Megalosaurs are described as stretching to a length of thirty feet, with huge jaws armed with rows of formidable teeth. The text says that during the Old Stone Age man had made more progress than in the preceding million years, and that during the New Stone Age, at least one-fourth as long as the Old, he made even greater progress.
