Andrés Neuman’s collection “The Things We Don’t Do” consists of a series of humorous and interesting short stories. Neuman explores a few of the themes love, lust, history, mortality, family secrets, therapy, Borges, enigmatic undergarments, translators, and storytelling itself. The stories challenge our assumptions with their brilliant tricks of hand and surprising turns.
Inspired by Borges and Cortázar, Neuman writes with a wry, philosophical eye on life’s big issues, including identity, relationships, guilt, innocence, survival in harsh situations, creativity, and language. Currently residing in Spain, Andrés Neuman is a native of Buenos Aires and the author of over twenty works, two of which have been translated into English: “Traveler of the Century” and “Talking to Ourselves.”
