About this book

Aplegatt, a thirty-six-year-old royal mounted messenger, spent a long time idle and humiliated, since sorcerers at the kings' courts can send word from Vengerberg to Vizima in half an hour.

Then, suddenly, messengers are needed again and hooves echo along the roads. The fantasy opens with his sense of why the demand has returned.
