The War of Quito

The War of Quito is part of the great chronicle of Peru by Pedro Cieza de León (1520-1554), the Spanish conquistador-historian whose firsthand account of the Inca world and the Spanish conquest is among the most trusted of all early sources. This volume, translated for the Hakluyt Society by Clements Markham, narrates the civil wars among the Spanish conquerors of Peru. Cieza wrote with unusual care and sympathy for the conquered.
