Ruben Gallego writes about his time in Iraq as a Marine with Lima Company, 3rd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment, a Reserve unit whose members held civilian jobs and regular lives. The company was called lucky after weeks of combat without a casualty, until that luck ran out.
He remembers friends who were killed, including Jonathan Grant, and describes the weight of memory, loss and PTSD after returning home.
