Tom Clark and His Wife is a work by Paschal Beverly Randolph (1825-1875), the African American physician, spiritualist, and occult writer who was a pioneering figure of nineteenth-century American esotericism. Randolph wrote on sex magic, trance, and the after-life, and founded one of the earliest Rosicrucian orders in America. A free-born man of color who lectured for abolition, he was a remarkable and long-overlooked figure. His writings are primary sources for the history of American occultism.
