Trooper Bluegum at the Dardanelles is a 1916 account of Gallipoli by Oliver Hogue (1880-1919), the Australian journalist and Light Horse soldier who wrote under the name Trooper Bluegum. Hogue served in the campaign and wrote home dispatches that brought the Anzac experience to Australian readers. He survived Gallipoli and the Sinai but died of influenza in 1919 just after the war. The book is a first-hand voice from the campaign that forged Australian national memory. Free PDF download available on BDeBooks.
