Chander Pahar is Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay’s adventure classic, the story of a young Bengali named Shankar who travels to Africa and finds himself in the kind of expedition Bengali boys could only dream about. Bibhutibhushan never went to Africa himself, but he read everything he could and the geography in the book is remarkably accurate.
