Char Adhyay was published in 1935 by Visva-Bharati Granthana-Vibhaga. Rabindranath Tagore was born in Kolkata. This is one of my favorites by Tagore! It has not lost its relevance in contemporary, independent India. Char Adhyay, if the reader looks for a great story in this Tagore’s novel, surely he would be disappointed. The storyline is not the strength of his novels, unlike his short stories. The USP of Tagore’s novels is the difficultly discernible theme conceived by his super-intellectual mind and narration with complex statements. No wonder that common readers avoid his novels. Characters and their conversation seem bit far-fetched and unrealistic. I mean who talks in such a loopy manner. Char Adhyay pdf book quality is excellent.
