Ghore Baire is Rabindranath Tagore’s novel about Indian nationalism, set during the Swadeshi movement of the early twentieth century. Three voices share the narration, a husband Nikhil, his wife Bimala, and his charismatic friend Sandip, and through them Tagore examines what nationalism does to the people inside the home as well as outside it.
Satyajit Ray adapted the novel as a famous film. The book is short, serious, and still very relevant.
