Noukadubi

Noukadubi is Rabindranath Tagore’s novel of mistaken identity, set on the rivers of Bengal where a boat accident swaps two newly married couples without anyone realising it. What follows is the slow, painful unwinding of that mistake.

It is one of Tagore’s most accessible novels, and Rituparno Ghosh’s later film helped bring it to a wider audience. The book itself is short and emotionally precise.
