Thakurmar Jhuli

Thakurmar Jhuli is the great collection of Bengali fairy tales, gathered by Dakshinaranjan Mitra Majumder and first published in 1907. The stories are full of princes and princesses, demons and clever younger sons, told the way grandmothers used to tell them on long evenings.

Almost every Bengali household has a copy. If you grew up with these stories you already know them. If you did not, this is the book to start with.
