Aaron Dembski-Bowden has written extensively in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. Cadian Blood, his first novel, sends the Cadian 88th regiment to the shrine world Kathur after a Chaos infestation and a destructive plague overwhelm its population. Captain Parmenion Thade must lead a reclamation campaign while facing both infected forces and conflict within the Imperial command. Black Library issued it in 2009 and classifies it as an Astra Militarum story. Dembski-Bowden later wrote across the Horus Heresy, Black Legion, and Night Lords settings, but this debut already shows his focus on military institutions, divided loyalties, and soldiers under pressure.
