Adam Kucharski

Adam Kucharski applies mathematics and statistics to infectious disease epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. His research asks how outbreaks develop and how interventions can alter them. In The Rules of Contagion, issued by Profile Books with Wellcome Collection in Britain and by Basic Books in America, Kucharski carries those ideas beyond medicine. He compares the spread of infections with patterns in online information, financial instability, innovation, and social behaviour, showing how network structure and transmission dynamics can illuminate apparently different kinds of contagion. The book was named to several 2020 science-book lists.
