Adrian Del Caro

What sits under this name is a translation rather than an original work. Adrian Del Caro made the English Thus Spoke Zarathustra for the Cambridge Texts in the History of Philosophy series, edited with Robert Pippin; the author is Friedrich Nietzsche. Del Caro is a scholar of German literature who has taught at Tennessee, and his version is the one philosophy departments tend to set, because it keeps Nietzsche's compound coinages and biblical cadence instead of smoothing them into readable English. Anyone comparing translations will find it starker and stranger than the older Kaufmann and Hollingdale versions.
