Alana Oxford

Alana Oxford is the pen name of Michigan writer S. J. Lomas for romantic comedy, humorous women's fiction, and librarian-centered romance. Scotsman in the Stacks follows Paige, a part-time Michigan librarian seeking a permanent position, and James, a Glasgow artist visiting for an eight-week residency. Their meeting at the reference desk grows into a relationship constrained by his planned return to Scotland and by the different futures each has imagined. The residency gives their romance a deadline. The novel is a low-angst, closed-door romantic comedy published by 8N Publishing in 2022. Its library setting ties Paige's professional ambitions to the love story rather than using books as incidental scenery, while James's art and family obligations create the distance they must address. Oxford's other work includes the novella Blue Skies and A Modern Midlife Christmas Carol. She describes her fiction as sweet romance intended to bring readers humor and optimism, with a recurring affection for British settings and culture.
