Alex Banayan was an eighteen-year-old pre-med student at USC when he worked out how to game The Price Is Right, got on the show, won a sailboat and sold it. The money funded what became The Third Door (2018), a seven-year campaign to reach people he believed could explain how a career actually starts. He got to Bill Gates, Maya Angelou, Steve Wozniak, Quincy Jones, Jane Goodall, Larry King and Lady Gaga, and the book gives as much room to the doors that stayed shut as to the interviews he landed. The son of Iranian Jewish immigrants, Banayan now works mainly on the speaking circuit.
