Ander Levisay
Ander Levisay writes historical fantasy shaped by Norse and Old English traditions. Runes and Red Sails opens the Queenmaker series in Heimgard, where Aelfhild keeps her life deliberately narrow by serving Ceolwen, the future queen and true heir. When assassins target her mistress, Aelfhild chooses flight and becomes responsible for keeping Ceolwen alive. Their journey carries them among longships, raiders, violent storms, scheming lords, shieldmaidens, and old gods. Levisay uses those dangers to test service and courage while rival powers contest the kingdom's future. Jarlstad Bookworks published Runes and Red Sails in December 2017. Levisay continued Queenmaker with Oaths and Old Gods, extending the struggle over succession, loyalty, and belief. Across the opening novel, Aelfhild's decisions remain central because protecting the heir requires judgment as well as endurance. The result is an invented northern world whose maritime dangers and political vocabulary draw on early medieval sources without simply retelling a surviving saga.
