Andrew Cotto works as a novelist, journalist, and food writer across coming-of-age fiction, mysteries, and stories shaped by Italian culture. He holds an MFA in creative writing from The New School and has contributed journalism to publications including The New York Times, Men’s Journal, Brooklyn Magazine, and La Cucina Italiana. The Domino Effect is his first novel. It follows Danny Rorro from Queens to Hamden Academy as he tries to understand the losses and conflicts that separated him from the more open child once known as Domino. Cotto has described the book as a coming-of-age story intended to reach both younger and older readers. He later wrote Outerborough Blues: A Brooklyn Mystery and several novels centered on food, friendship, and Italy. The Domino Effect introduces concerns that recur across his career: neighborhood identity, formative memory, along with choices made while a person is still learning how to interpret the world around him.
