Andy Borowitz

Andy Borowitz has been writing straight-faced fake news since 2001, when he started The Borowitz Report. The New Yorker bought the column in 2012 and dropped it in December 2023 during cuts at Condé Nast; he relaunched it as an independent newsletter on Substack. Earlier he worked in television, co-creating The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air with Susan Borowitz. Profiles in Ignorance: How America's Politicians Got Dumb and Dumber (2022) is a comic history with a thesis, tracing anti-intellectualism in American public life from Ronald Reagan through Dan Quayle, George W. Bush and Sarah Palin to Donald Trump.
