Andy Lang
Andy Lang is an English-born writer of adventure, suspense, fantasy, and science fiction whose working life has taken him from engineering in Britain to Spain and East Africa. The Red Trade, published in 2015, is an East African suspense novel involving Glenn Ridgely, Ruth, and police sergeant Morgan Kiplagat. Their attempt to recover a group of abducted children gives the story both its journey structure and its focus on exploitation operating across borders. Lang’s experience living in several regions informs a bibliography that repeatedly uses African settings, including Traffik, Peninah’s Passion, and novels moving through Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, and neighboring countries. He has described Wilbur Smith’s African fiction as an early influence on this strand of his work. The Red Trade belongs to the same period as Gondell’s Quest and Harvester 7, showing the range of genres he was publishing during 2015. Its police, civilian, and local perspectives support a thriller built around cooperation rather than a solitary adventurer.
