Author: Andy Ngo
Andy Ngo grew up in Portland, edited for the online magazine Quillette, and became widely known in June 2019 when he was attacked while filming a demonstration in the city and taken to hospital with a brain haemorrhage. Unmasked, published by Center Street in 2021, is his case that the loose antifascist networks in American cities are better understood as an organised movement with a shared strategy, and it reached the bestseller lists. Other journalists have disputed both the framing and the sourcing, arguing that he selects and edits footage so as to enlarge what one side does and shrink what the other does, and that his attention falls almost entirely on the left. He has answered that the material is documentary and the objections political. He is now editor-in-chief of The Post Millennial and has lived in London since 2021.
