Ruby Hamad

Hamad is an Australian-Lebanese journalist and academic whose White Tears, Brown Scars began as a newspaper column and grew into a book about how the distress of white women has historically been turned against women of colour, running from colonial history through to the modern workplace. The argument drew serious pushback and serious adoption at once. She holds a doctorate in media studies and has written on Arab representation on screen. Sydney is where she was raised.
