Angela Terry practiced intellectual-property law before turning to American fiction about professional pressure, friendship, and personal reinvention. The Trials of Adeline Turner, published by Girl Friday Books in 2021, follows a thirty-three-year-old corporate lawyer whose pursuit of partnership has crowded out much of her private life. A new client and renewed contact with a former school crush disrupt that order, leading Adeline from Chicago to San Francisco while office politics threaten her career. Terry has explained that she also practiced at large law firms in both cities, giving the novel’s legal setting a basis in experience. She identifies the book as women’s fiction, with the lead character’s emotional growth taking priority even when romance and humor shape the story. The Trials of Adeline Turner follows Terry’s debut, Charming Falls Apart, and continues her interest in ambitious women reconsidering the lives they have carefully arranged.
