Ecco published the novel in 2017. Baker later wrote When We Grow Up, a novel about longtime friends whose Hawaiian gathering is disrupted by an emergency alert and old tensions. Her New York Times essays and other reviews have appeared in Vogue, the Los Angeles Review of Books, and Literary Hub. Across both novels, Baker uses enclosed social groups to explore how privilege and shared history influence what characters admit, conceal, or forgive. Her nonfiction shares that interest in public narratives and private conduct.
