Ann Liang

Alice Sun, the only scholarship student at an elite Beijing international school, starts turning literally invisible and decides to monetise it: for a fee she will find out whatever her classmates want to know. That premise carried If You Could See the Sun, Ann Liang's first book, published by Inkyard Press in October 2022 and winner of the Readings Young Adult Book Prize. Liang was born in Beijing on 8 March 2000, moved to Melbourne at five, went back to Beijing for school between the ages of ten and fifteen, then returned to Australia and read history and media communications at the University of Melbourne. She was still an undergraduate when the debut sold. Titles since include This Time It's Real, I Hope This Doesn't Find You, which reached the American top ten, and A Song to Drown Rivers, her first novel for adults, built from the Chinese legend of Xi Shi.
