Anne M Pillsworth

Anne M Pillsworth writes supernatural fiction for teenagers that places Lovecraftian mythology inside contemporary New England. Summoned, her first novel, was published by Tor Teen in 2014 and opens the Redemption’s Heir sequence. Sixteen-year-old Sean Wyndham finds an old advertisement seeking a sorcerer’s apprentice, yet the notice includes an email address. His reply connects him to Redemption Orne, a man claiming centuries of occult experience, and Sean’s first ritual calls up a dangerous servant rather than the harmless familiar he expected. The novel draws on H. P. Lovecraft’s invented Arkham and Cthulhu Mythos while building its own family relationships, magical rules, and modern Rhode Island setting. Pillsworth’s short story “Geldman’s Pharmacy,” set in the same larger world, received recognition from The Year’s Best Fantasy and Horror. Kirkus classifies Summoned as teen horror, while Macmillan identifies it as her debut. Fathomless continues Sean’s story and expands the questions of inheritance, trust, and supernatural apprenticeship introduced in the opening book.
