Annie Auerbach

Annie Auerbach is a children’s author whose many books include adaptations of film and television stories. Despicable Me is her junior novelization of the Universal animated comedy about Gru, his plan to steal the moon, and the three girls who transform his carefully ordered life. Little, Brown Books for Young Readers published the book in 2010, with Auerbach turning the screen story into a chapter-length narrative for younger audiences. Her bibliography exceeds one hundred children’s books, including further media tie-ins and original titles. That range reflects a career built around translating familiar characters, fast-moving plots, and visual comedy into accessible prose.
